1inch and Rewardy Eliminate Gas Tokens: Cross-Chain Swaps Pay Fees in RWD
1inch and Rewardy ditch gas-token friction for cross-chain swaps
Decentralized exchange aggregator 1inch has teamed up with Rewardy Wallet to eliminate the need for native gas tokens when swapping on multiple blockchains. By plugging the 1inch Swap API into Rewardy’s in-app swap interface, users can now pay transaction fees in Rewardy’s native token (RWD) and execute cross-chain swaps without holding Ether, Binance Coin or other network gas tokens.
How it works
- Rewardy uses account abstraction and a gasless UX, and the new integration leverages EIP-7702 — a standard that lets transaction fees be paid in a token other than the chain’s native gas asset (in this case, RWD).
- 1inch’s Swap API provides aggregation and routing across liquidity sources, so swaps executed inside Rewardy get optimized pricing and better access to liquidity.
- Supported networks: Ethereum, BNB Chain, Base, Arbitrum and Optimism.
Why it matters
Requiring users to possess the correct native gas token for each chain has long been a barrier to mainstream DeFi adoption, causing stalled or failed transactions and added complexity. This integration removes that hurdle, letting users swap across multiple chains without manually managing network settings or topping up chain-specific gas tokens.
Industry reaction
“DeFi is still too complicated for most people, and gas tokens are one of the biggest reasons,” said Rewardy Wallet CEO Yoon Jeon. “By partnering with 1inch and leveraging EIP-7702, we’re removing unnecessary steps and making swaps feel as simple as any modern financial app without compromising on self-custody or execution quality.”
Sergej Kunz, co-founder of 1inch, framed the move as part of a broader accessibility push: “If DeFi is to reach its first billion users, the experience must be seamless and secure. Through the integration of our Swap API, wallets like Rewardy are helping drive a more intuitive and accessible future for users.”
What this signals
The partnership is a continuation of 1inch’s strategy to embed its infrastructure into consumer-facing platforms and represents a practical step toward lowering UX friction in DeFi. By combining account abstraction, EIP-7702 fee payments in RWD, and 1inch’s routing, Rewardy aims to make multi-chain swaps feel as straightforward as using a traditional finance app — potentially accelerating onboarding for less technical users.
